She recalls watching her great-grandmother Mar\u00eda Enelia distill viche many times. They were five generations of women who followed tradition, descended from maroonage, as the residents of Cajambre call themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Do\u00f1a Sofi aprendi\u00f3 acompa\u00f1ando a su madre a rozar la ca\u00f1a &#8220;all\u00e1 arriba del r\u00edo&#8221; donde se quedaban por varios d\u00edas hasta traer de vuelta la ca\u00f1a que d\u00edas despu\u00e9s se convertir\u00eda en viche. Some small railings lead to a cement courtyard that then leads to the town\u2019s school and the booths where the community gathers. If you keep walking, you'll find the houses of the neighbors. Right next to Aunt's house is a wooden house on stilts, where they welcome newcomers with sweets, fish stew, and good juice.
